Dinosaurs of the Gobi
Join Nomadic Expeditions and noted paleontologist, Dr. Philip Currie, for the trip of a lifetime to the remote fossil beds of the legendary “Flaming Cliffs” and Nemegt Basin, two of the world’s premier fossil sites. Working under the auspices of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, and with the guidance of Dr. Currie and Dr. Badamgarav, one of Mongolia’s leading sedimintologist, expedition members will have the opportunity to prospect for and excavate fossils from the legendary Gobi Desert which is home to some of the most exciting finds of the century.

Members of our past paleontological expeditions have made significant finds, such as the skull of a huge Tarbosaurus (a relative of Tyrannosaurus rex), dinosaur eggs, Velociraptor claws, dinosaur footprints and a Protoceratops skull among many other exciting discoveries.
Trip Highlights:
Work alongside a noted paleontologist at remote fossil beds in Gobi, including the Flaming Cliffs and Nemegt Basin
Visit the paleontological laboratory of the Academy of Sciences and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at fossils being prepared for exhibition
Stay at the Three Camel Lodge, Mongolia`s premiere eco-lodge and expedition camp and recipient of numerous international awards
Explore the `Singing Sand Dunes` at Hongoryn Els, which is one of the largest concentration of sand in the Gobi
Itinerary at a Glance:
Day 1 - Arrive in Ulaanbaatar
Day 2 - Explore the Gandan Monastery and the Natural History Museum in Ulaanbaatar
Day 3 - Fly to the Gobi Desert and drive to the beautiful Hongoryn Els Sand Dunes
Day 4 - Spend these days at the fossil-rich Nemegt Basin prospecting under the supervision of Dr. Currie
Day 5 - Spend these days at the fossil-rich Nemegt Basin prospecting under the supervision of Dr. Currie
Day 6 - Spend these days at the fossil-rich Nemegt Basin prospecting under the supervision of Dr. Currie
Day 7 - Spend these days at the fossil-rich Nemegt Basin prospecting under the supervision of Dr. Currie
Day 8 - Spend these days at the fossil-rich Nemegt Basin prospecting under the supervision of Dr. Currie
Day 9 - Go on day trips to Altan Ula Sites to continue your discovery
Day 10 - Go on day trips to Altan Ula Sites to continue your discovery
Day 11 - Drive to Ukhaa Tolgod where the famous fossilized egg embryo was unearthed in mid-1990s, return to Hongoryn Els
Day 12 - Explore Tugrugiin Shiree, drive to the Three Camel Lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight
Day 13 - Visit the legendary Flaming Cliffs, where Roy Chapman Andrews founds the world???s first nest of dinosaur egg, Visit Bulgan soum
Day 14 - Return to Ulaanbaatar
Day 15 - Explore Ulaanbaatar with a visit to National History Museum and the Bogd Gegeen Palace
Day 16 - Departure
