Horse Trek to Hagiin Har Lake
Hagiin Har Lake lies hidden within one of the most scenic and unexplored areas of Central Mongolia. Accessible only by foot, horse, or helicopter, and until recently known only to local hunters, this pristine lake remains one of Mongolia's best-kept secrets. Travel on horseback north from Ulaanbaatar, through river valleys and mountain passes, stopping along the way to explore the atmospheric Gunjin Temple ruins.

A horse trek designed for experienced riders, the dramatic journey to Hagiin Har passes through coniferous forests, marshlands, and grassy hills to reach this extraordinary crystal-clear lake. Surrounded by the wild crags of the Han Hentii Mountains, and free of any human settlement, Hagiin Har Lake is an ideal place for fishing, horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, and relaxing.

The horses used on the trek are generally smaller and leaner than those riders may be used to, but this is characteristic of this sturdy Mongolian breed.  Approximately four to six hours will be spent in the saddle each day, and traditional Russian cavalry-style saddles will be provided for each participant. In addition to the Nomadic Expeditions guide, the crew will include a camp cook and local horse wranglers.
Trip Highlights:
Ride Mongolian horses, legendary for their great stamina and ability to negotiate difficult terrain
Camp at remote Hagiin Har Lake, an idyllic place to fish, explore the surrounding wilderness, or simply relax
