Kids & Kayaks & Horses
On this active and action-packed journey, families share the excitement of kayaking and horseback riding in the heart of Mongolia’s loveliest wilderness areas, and experience the traditional way of life of nomadic herders.

After visiting Ulaanbaatar’s historic temples and the Natural History Museum’s impressive dinosaur hall, travel to the grasslands and birch-clad mountains of Hustain Nuruu. This vast national park is home to the takhi, the world’s last surviving species of wild horse, and is a great introduction to the diverse scenery and wildlife of Mongolia. The night will be spent in cozy gers, the traditional dwellings made of felt, canvas, and wood that for centuries have sheltered Mongolia’s nomadic families.

Continuing by plane to Northern Mongolia, kayak on the sparkling blue waters of Lake Hovsgol, explore alpine forests and mountains on horseback, and hike through some of Central Asia’s most unspoiled wilderness. Highlights of this adventure include sleeping at peaceful ger camps on the lakeshore, waking each day to the incomparable natural beauty surrounding Mongolia’s largest lake, and visiting reindeer-herding nomads whose way of life has changed little over thousands of years.
