Trip Type: Camel Treks
Adventure Mongolia, Gobi Trek
Mongolia is one of the few nations in the world that is home to the two-humped Bactrian camel, used daily by nomads for milking and transportation. Their large, sturdy bodies, and the ability to endure in cold weather and survive with little water, make them dependable friends of nomads, particularly those dwelling in the Gobi. The Bactrian camel’s friendly and calm demeanor has long impressed adventure seekers from around the world, and many travelers find riding camels to be easier than riding on horseback. Traveling atop these beautiful animals, visitors to the Gobi can feel a little closer to Mongolia’s endless blue sky.
By joining one of our extensive camel trekking adventures, travelers have the opportunity to explore some of the region’s most unique areas while crossing the Gobi on camelback with local nomadic camel wranglers. Approximately three to five hours a day is spent on camelback, and on some days overland driving or trekking leads travelers to the discovery of Mongolia’s rich culture and biodiversity. A vehicle carrying supplies and equipment follows each camel trekking expedition, so that those who find themselves uncomfortable on camelback will always have an alternative mode of transportation.
Explore the wonders of Mongolia’s scenic and cultural treasures on foot and horseback, atop a Bactrian camel or in four-wheel-drive vehicles. Adventure Mongolia! is an active trip designed for enthusiastic explorers who want to travel off the beaten track, from the meadows and pine-forested mountains of the Central Mongolian countryside to the dramatic landscapes of the legendary Gobi Desert.
