Day 1 | Arrival in Delhi.
This afternoon, visit a Gurudwara to experience one the most visible and vibrant of India’s religion – the Sikhs. Visit the India Gate to watch the sunset and mingle with local families.
Day 2 | Old Delhi
Today’s exploration of Old Delhi includes a rickshaw ride to Chandi Chowke and Jama Masjid.
Day 3 – 4 | Agra
Explore the town of Agra the next two days, home to the famous Taj Mahal. You will visit Itmad ud Daula, the mausoleum built in the memory of Queen Nur Jahan’s father and Agra Fort. You will also enjoy the magnificent sunrise and sunset over the Taj Mahal.
Day 5 | Fatepur Sikri / Train to Ranthambore
Explore Fatepur Sikri, Akbar’s eerily abandoned city, full of elegant small palace structures carved from red sandstone. Then take the train to Ranthambore.
Day 6 – 7 | Ranthambore Tiger Preserve
The next two days explore the park in search for the Royal Bengal Tiger and other wildlife.
Day 8 – 9 | Jaipur
Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and popularly known as the “Pink City.” Explore the colorful bazaars of the old city, Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), Mughal Art Museum, Amber Fort and Palace, Temple of Kali, the Hall of Victory, Jai Mahal and Jagmandir.
Day 10 | Drive to Jodhpur
Start your road journey (about 5 hours) across Rajasthan as you head west to Jodhpur, the “Blue City.”
Day 11 – 12 | Exploring Jodhpur
You will explore the city’s beautiful palace and bustling Clock Tower bazaar to get a further flavor of this historic city.
Day 13 | To Udaipur Via Ranakpur
Explore the city of Ranakpur, home to some of India’s most exquisite Jain temple architecture. You will have ample time to fully explore this incredible site before continuing on to scenic Udaipur.
Day 14 – 15 | Udaipur
Visit the Jagdish Temple, the Garden of Maidens, Maharaja’s City Palace and the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal. You will also enjoy a scenic cruise across Lake Pichola.
Day 16 – 17 | Cochin
Visit Fort Kochi, Church of St. Francis and basilica of Santa Cruz. Enjoy a traditional dance performance and a chance to meet the performers.
Day 18 | Houseboating
Today, you drive south to board your houseboat.
Day 19 – 20 | Cruising the Backwater
You have two full days to relax on this comfortable floating home, reflecting on your journey across India.
Day 21 | Depart India
You have the day to leisurely explore the canals. Later this evening, transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
