We “WOW”ed Wendy Perrin Again
Named Top Travel Specialist for Mongolia & India

WendyPerrin.com—curator of world travel insider’s guides—once again named our founder Jalsa Urubshurow to her “WOW” List as her Trusted Travel Expert for Mongolia an 8th consecutive year. She has also named Sanjay Saxena, our Director of Operations, to her “WOW” list for India.

Her coveted list is a collection of the most exceptionally knowledgeable and well-connected trip planners around the world, all rigorously road-tested, based on her decades of experience as a travel journalist and based on recent trip reviews from her readers.

Wendy is one of the most trusted voices in travel. She shares her “encyclopedic knowledge of all things travel,” having amassed comprehensive knowledge of the world’s best travel solutions and fixers.

Her unique system ensures that travelers benefit from top destination experts—getting high-caliber “trip of a lifetime” experiences.

A pioneer in environmental conservation through for-profit sustainable tourism initiatives, Jalsa’s story began in 1952 when his parents immigrated to the U.S. after a seemingly endless search for safe haven from Stalinist persecution in Russia. Born on the other side of the world from his ancestral heritage, Jalsa grew up speaking Mongolian and listening to the legends his father recited to him.

During his first exploration of Mongolia’s astounding beauty, the nation’s first democratically elected Prime Minister, His Excellency Dash Byambasuren, recruited him to advise on expanding accessibility to Western travelers. Jalsa eagerly took up the challenge, and Nomadic Expeditions became a full-fledged operation in 1992. In almost the three decades since its inauguration, Nomadic Expeditions has developed into the premier tour operator for the region and a strong force within the sustainable tourism sector.

Nomadic Expeditions has led thousands of adventurers on explorations of Mongolia’s ecology and culture—including custom expeditions for the American Museum of Natural History, the Massachusetts Audubon Society, Tibet House, and the Nature Conservancy and World Wildlife Fund, as well as university groups from Harvard and Stanford.

Jalsa also serves on the boards of The Peregrine Fund, The Captain Planet Foundation, and supports numerous charities and nonprofits around the world.

Born in New Delhi, India, the son of a Brigadier General in the Indian Army—Sanjay has lived all over India and traveled extensively across Asia. He began mountaineering and rock climbing in the high Himalaya at age fifteen, after successfully completing mountaineering courses from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, India.

A professional guide since 1979, Sanjay has led numerous groups trekking, climbing, touring and on safaris to Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, China, Myanmar/Burma, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Venezuela, Peru, Iran, and of course throughout his home country of India.

Committed to running trips that are ecologically responsible and culturally sensitive, Sanjay has been named an “Unsung Hero of Compassion” and recognized by the Dalai Lama for the community projects he has created in South Asia.

What makes us especially proud to be named to this prestigious list is that a key component of the award process is the weight of reviews posted on WendyPerrin.com by travelers we’ve served. We encourage all travelers considering journeys to destinations abroad—from wherever home may be—to read these reviews and consider the immense value in having a trusted travel expert create your trip.
